What is An Asset Management
Advisor?
An asset management advisor is one who helps with the task of
managing your assets. This is a very close definition to what
an asset management company is as well. The difference in both
terms being only that one is hired to do the job and the other
is hired to show how it should be done best.
Both the tasks are based on outsourcing; however, an asset
management company is what you need when you want the asset
management task done in a professional manner, and when you do
not have the expertise or the manpower to do it internally. On
the other hand, an asset management advisor is what you hire
for expert advice to your already existing professionals or
expert team which is internal. Hence, these both differ
slightly in definition but vastly in application.
Does an enterprise need an asset management advisor
permanently?
If you are a medium to large size enterprise you would be in
constant movement with regard to asset management. There will
be daily procurements, requisition for procurements and
discarding of old material and assets. In this context, keeping
in mind that the enterprise has a good asset management system
in place powered by exceptionally well designed software;
things are likely to proceed in a smooth fashion. However, if
you lack in any of the above, you will definitely need help
from outside.
It remains to be seen how much and for how long; but without
accurate and automated systemic approach to asset management it
would be impossible for even a well seasoned manager to really
take the right decisions when time comes. This is where you
find the importance of having a good asset management in place.
Once this is done, and you have the reports, it is very likely
that a good manager would know which way the business forecast
goes only by looking at the utilization and requirements of the
assets available.
The role of an asset management advisor
A good manager will always take into consideration the opinions
of experts before taking critical decisions regarding the
future of the organization, marketing plans and expansion plans
in particular. He/she will also need expert advice when it
comes to financial investment and asset management.
The asset management advisor fulfills the role of the expert’s
advice by analyzing the given factors in an enterprise and
working out the reports required for any change in an
organization including expansion.
